An Ode to Ikat

I’m in love with ikat.  Also, I really enjoy saying it.  EEEEEEEE-CATTTTTT. I didn’t know what the heck it was, or that it even existed until watching Sarah’s Summer House when she used a blue ikat fabric in the new addition.

Not the ideal photo of my ikat inspiration, but that’s the only photo I could find with the correct angle to even feature what the heck I’m talking about.  Anyway,  I’m in love with ikat.   I want everything ikat.  It’s becoming an insanely obsessive thing. Prime example is that I bought an ikat composition notebook, just because it was there and I could.  Forever21 had ikat dresses, so I bought them.  Pier 1 had ikat scarves, so I bought them.  Bloomingdale’s had an ikat purse, so I bought it.  Coach even had an ikat line that I had to at least buy the wristlet!  See where I’m going with this? All ikat, all the time.  The fleur de lis and I had the same love affair as well, although that love is beginning to fade due to my salacious ways with ikat.

For those who may have the same genetic code as me that makes it necessary to latch on to something and buy a zillion of it  - this pictorial list is for you:

Love, love, love.  I plan on treating myself to that ikat stationary set as a job well done (assuming that it actually is) after this upcoming semester is completed.   More importantly, the artwork from Etsy is very adorable, and the you customize the colors to tailor to your color scheme.   Honestly, you just can’t beat that.

So, what’s your take on ikat?  If you love, it, have any pieces you want to show off?  E-mail me and we’ll have a ikat party!

Love, J and A
