Welcome to the 21st Century

Courtesy of my husband, I have officially joined the 21st century. What an awesome birthday gift!  It was about time I jumped the iPhone bandwagon after being a Droid user for two years.  Don’t get me wrong, I loved my Droid at first – but it was ever so glitchy and caused many problems.  Hopefully now, with my iPhone – glitch free is the way to be!  Also, I’m obsessed with the fact that it comes in white. Farewell to bulky looking black phones! Now since I’m a card-carrying Apple user, I get to enjoy all of the apps that I never was able to access before. Obviously, one of the first things I downloaded was the Jonathan Adler app, so I could geek out to Adler-isms on a daily basis. The second one I downloaded was the Sephora app, so I can check product reviews while I shop. You can see where my priorities lie. Let us please remember the post where I referenced my make up collection (sheesh)!

Birthday Gift

You’ll notice that I don’t have a case on it yet.  One of the great things about the iPhone is that there are SO many options for cases.  The bad thing about the iPhone? There are so many options for cases!  I honestly don’t even know where to start! I did, however, rule out Jonathan Adler cases because they don’t fit the white model.  :-(  Downgrade.  That’s okay though – there is nothing I love more than a good challenge!

To start,  I’m really loving this kitty case by Uncommon.

Is that not just the cutest thing ever?  But at 39.95 – I can’t help but think there must be some better alternative out there.

In my Google Search, I came across Case-Mate which has some really beautiful designs.  A little cheaper than Uncommon and there is a coupon code floating around the internet. Oooh!

Etsy is a smorgasbord of iPhone cases.  So much so that I didn’t know where to begin, so I ran and hid.

The more I look at the kitty case though, the more I am convinced I cannot life without it.

Speaking of things you cannot live without…what applications does everyone recommend?  I’ve downloaded a few, but there are just so many out there – I hardly know where to begin!

Cheers,

Paintbrush and Extension Cord Art? Sign me up!

Don’t you love when you go to Home Goods in search of a specific item (which you obviously can’t find), but come across something amazing? It’s like the heavens opened and God (himself/herself – for whatever you prefer) directly bestowed a thing of beauty in my hands saying “Jessica, don’t go home without it.”  With that, I present to you my new favorite thing: Industrial Art.

Industrial Art

It’s a white lacquered extension cord!  Not only does it  look awesome, but functions as a vase as well.  Seriously the coolest thing I’ve seen in a while. You’re probably thinking that I’m a nut, but I promise you – I’m not. I may be totally on to something here.

Industrial Art

Just imagine this item displayed in a bedroom that has an ikat headboard, mirrored night stands.  A cross between hard and soft lines.  I think it adds to a perfect blend of different elements.   If you’re on the same boat as me, and love this piece, you can find it online.  But, the price is better at Home Goods so I would definitely check there first.

Paint Brush

The second industrial art piece features of a quote by William Shakespeare, “The object of art is to give life a shape.”  The quote is pressed into the stand that supports the…

Industrial Art

GIANT PAINTBRUSH!

You may not have been jealous about the extension cord, but you are totally jealous over the 2″ lacquered paint brush!  It’s okay. I understand. If I saw this on someone else’s blog, I would be jealous. Especially since it’s the perfect item for all DIYers and crafters.  We’re never without a paint brush!

Big thanks to Museum of Modern Living for this kicky little creations!

What do you think?  Have you found anything at Home Goods lately that has made your heart skip a beat?

Cheers,

J and A

Mauvin’ Monday Link Party #2

Greetings all! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  I know I sure did. I was lucky enough to enjoy a lot of pre-birthday celebrations with family this weekend since my birthday is on Tuesday.  (Wee!)  I’d like to say thank you to all who joined in on the first Mauvin’ Monday Link Party!  There were 38 amazing entries, and I’m so jazzed on all of them!  Just so many creative, talented folk on the internet these days.

Last week, I mentioned that my favorite post from the first link party would win a prize, but it was a surprise! Well, it was a surprise just because I didn’t know what it would be yet.  It’s so much easier to say things are a surprise just so you can buy yourself a couple of more days, right?  I’m sure I’m not the only one who does that too.  You know when you’re going to make a lunch date with a friend that you haven’t seen in a while, and you feel inclined to bring something for them as a little token of “I feel terrible that we haven’t hung out in a while!”, but you don’t know what it is.  ”Oh, and I’ve got a surprise for you…!!!”  Yeah, we’re all guilty of it.  Don’t lie.

The fact that no one knew what they were in for when they posted their link makes it all the more special since it wasn’t just for a potential prize. They could have won a used sock. Luckily, for you it’s not a used sock.  The winner of this week’s Link Party is getting a $10 dollar gift card to Amazon!  This gift card is sponsored by my bank account, which is why it’s only for 10 dollars.  I’d love to give the winner more, but hey…money isn’t growing on any of my trees!

So, without further ado – the winner of Link Party #1 is…

Little House in the Big D’s Striped Desk

Zebra Striped Desk

If you haven’t checked out her desk revival, you must.  Samm did an AMAZING job transforming this desk.  And with using “oops” paint as her color palette?  Genius and inexpensive!  Love it.  :-)
