It’s a real pain in the butt when you have two keys on your key ring that look identical. Especially when one is your house key, and the other is the key to your work. It’s even more of a pain in the butt when the office alarm is counting down, and you’re fumbling over which key is which. I’ve been frustrated enough by this, and it’s time to come up with a conclusion! Nail polish is always a good solution, right?
Lining up the keys together, you can definitely see my dilemma that they are exactly alike. They even fit in the locks the same, just don’t turn. So, you don’t realize its the wrong key until it’s half over! Since one of them is a work key, I knew I wouldn’t be able to laquer nail polish all over it. But, just to paint one would help greatly.
To ensure I didn’t spazz out and get paint all over the key portion, I wrapped it up with scotch tape. No point in painting the actual keyed area, since it’ll just rub off in the lock.
Since I was not born with patience, I whipped out my handy dandy nail drying spray. If you are a fan of painting your nails, this is a MUST have. It cuts drying time in half!
Woo! Much better! And if you’re loving the nail polish color just as much as I am, it’s Ancient Jade by ORLY. Love it! After two coats of nail polish, spray dry, and a top coat…voila! I’ve got myself a key that is clearly defined and I no longer get it confused with the other key. Not only can I tell by color, but the texture is different which helps when you’re fumbling along looking for it. A easy, cheap, and fantastic upgrade! Plus, with a little nail polish remover, you can change the color with the seasons. Which, I would totally do.
Love,
J and A
