Lights Out, It’s Monday.

Thank god this morning brought me a really good laugh. When Andrew was in the shower this morning, I was doing my morning face wash/tone/exfoliate/and moisturize routine. Just a usual Monday morning with us trying to get ready at the same time.  But this morning was a little different, because I was apparently in a fog (at least more so than usual). Once I was done with the face routine, I high tailed it out of the bathroom because it was getting too steamy and flipped the lights off in the process and walked out into the kitchen to feed the cats.  When I finally walked down the hallway again, I realized the lights were off and he was still in the shower. Instantly, I busted up laughing and I said “Why didn’t you say anything!?” and he said “I wanted to see how long it would take you to realize!”  That in itself made me laugh even more, because he knew I was only half awake and it would be a while.  Nothing like a little shower in the dark, right?

So what’s going on in the Evans’ household as of late?  Well, a whole lotta not much it would seem!  Since Spring Break is over, my classes are back in full swing again and boy, it is stressful! For some reason, when I signed up for Operations Management, I never thought it would involve math! I just figured I would write papers about theory, and not calculate things.  Oiy veh.  I’m so thankful that Andrew can pick up on that kind of math easily and help me with it.  Those of you who are following my Instagram know that when I say “help”, it means he’s actually doing it while my brain shuts down at the thought.  At least it gives me the mental break I need to get cracking on my Project Management class.   I just have to keep telling myself that by December 2013, I’ll have my Bachelors and there is light at the end of the tunnel.

But then there is that whole applying to Chiropractic school thing?

So…I’ll be in school the rest of my life.  No big deal. But that’s a whole different post in it self.

Because school is kind of kicking my ass right now, it’s hard to find time to do any fun projects around the house.

HOWEVER!

Fab.com had a great sale a few weeks ago with art blocks by an artist named Lora Zombie (In my head, she’s related to Rob…but I don’t think that’s actually true.)  My BFF Christina sent the sale my way because she fell in love with a block featuring the all-mighty Tom Waits.   Then I saw this one…

catpictureLeave it to me to find the piece of art with a cat in it.  Add to cart was clicked within a second. I just love cats so much, I can’t help it. We’ve got this cutie hanging in our bathroom now since it totally matches the chandelier and the shower curtain. Now, I just really need to find the time to paint the bathroom turquoise, and it’ll be fully revamped!

Welcome to the Family!

The Evans would like to announce the arrival of our new addition,  Old Greg.  You may be asking “What the heck?”, and I’ll gladly explain.    The story starts out with my sick infatuation with cats, and the fact that I love them, talk to them, and hug them.   But, Columbia mostly has no use for me which makes the loving, talking, and hugging difficult.   [Enter new Thomas Paul pillow.]  Back in early November, Fab.com was having a Thomas Paul blow out sale, so when I saw this little cutie for 10 dollars, I had to have it.   Last Thursday, it finally showed up on our doorstep.  Yes, almost a month later!   The wait was worth it, because I’m in love with this adorable, and slightly awkward pillow.

Now, to know why we named it Old Greg….well, you’d have to realize that Andrew and I have a creepy sense of humor, and named it after a character from The Mighty Boosh.

“I”M OLD GREG!”

You know when…

You’re a DIY geek when you wake up at 7 a.m.  on your day off to start refinishing a chest of drawers.  Personally,  I think sanding, wood filling, sanding, wiping down, unscrewing, wood gluing, and priming is way better than chopping, peeling and roasting on this Thanksgiving Day.  What I am currently thankful for is the fact that I currently have this luxury since all I have to do today is show up at a family members house with a bundt cake at 5 o’clock. Not too shabby, right?

If I can keep up any semblance of momentum today,  I hope  to get two coats of primer on the chest today.  But that is hard to do when you’re distracted by the cutie outdoor cat that is  turning into an adopted member of the family.

Meet Benedict,  Benny for short. He’s an outdoor cat that belongs to someone, although, we haven’t quite figured out who the owners are just yet.   He may be the sweetest cat on the planet (Sorry Columbia, we still love you more!) , and has the greatest disposition. He loves being held, and sleeping in our laps.   Definitely not your average outdoor feral cat.  Clearly in the picture above,  he wants to come inside.   He has managed to run in the house just once on a day I was bringing in laundry from the garage. A fairly traumatizing experience for all parties involved.  He made it into the house, booked it to the living room with Columbia following, hissing like a freak.  She was not a happy camper at all about our little intruder. Once Benny realized “Heck no! I’m not staying here” , he ran to the same door he came in from, looked at me like I was taking an eternity to let him out and bolted. Columbia has never been the same since. Clearly, they are not meant to be brother and sister.  But that won’t stop me from referring to him as my adopted son.

Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving to all!  Enjoy the day, and don’t throw up!

Love, J and A

P.S – We don’t actually know if the cat has a name,  but we thought Benedict was appropriate.  Leave it to me to name it after a Shakespeare character.
