Sophisticated Dining Room Decor Board

I may or may not have been lurking the West Elm website on my lunch break yesterday when I came across a fabulous dining room table.  The legs are saw horses! Saw horses! How cute is that?  For all of you DIY-ers out there, I thought you would appreciate that.   Once I saw that table, I knew I had to come up with a decor board featuring it.   The table was just too perfect to pass up.  If only I could afford it. :-(

Dining rooms are the perfect room to experiment with color in.  Usually, dining rooms are closed off from the rest of the house, so you have the ability to mix things up and use more bold color options.   We had no problem painting the walls of our dining room Very Berry since it feels more separated from the rest of the house because it has its own door.  Not only that, dining rooms get more use in the evening and are just more playful.  Why not have fun with it?

After falling in love with the saw horse table,  I went into a search frenzy for a rug that would compliment how different the table was.  When I came across the colorful swirl rug,  I knew it was a great fit.   Once I nailed down those two items, everything else came into play.  This decor board is subtle, sophisticated, and seriously sassy.

Decor Board: A Bright and Cheery Bedroom

Maybe it’s the fact that a little cold front rolled in last night, but I’m feeling awfully cheery today.   Seeing as how it happens so infrequently in Florida, I’m not the kind of girl who runs to the dark, moody, and warm colors at this time of year. There is nothing more retreat like to me than cold weather paired with a bright, bold and happy room.   Plus, it’s only cold in the mornings and it’ll be 80 degrees this afternoon which makes this decor board completely realistic.  If I were coming home from a long day at work,  I doubt I could  find anything to be unhappy with by the time I stepped foot into this bedroom scheme.     When I started planning out our new bedroom color scheme,  the first question that was asked was “How do we want to feel when we wake up in the morning?”  Did we want to go darker tones, and make it harder for us to get out of bed?  Or did we want something that was  revitalizing and made us want to get our start on the day?  That’s why Andrew and I decided on a blue scheme.   But,  if it was just me and I didn’t have to take any semblance of masculinity into the equation  (especially since we have a very berry dining room, so that’s all the girly I am allowed),  I would have gone with the scheme in the decor board below.  There is nothing that says “WAKE UP!”  more to me than flowers and turquoise.

West Elm meets Z Gallerie

Four glorious days off from work and school means you get to see a decor board!  I call this one West Elm meets Z Gallerie. I love the look of the striped chair against the rustic console table.  There is nothing better than the juxtaposition of rustic and chic. In pulling this together,  I tried to pick pieces that had the same wood grain.  In doing so, you get a heavy feel, but adding a light patterned area rug will brighten up the space. I think it would make a beautiful living room, in the right home. And of course,  a fat wallet helps too!
