If I had all of the money in the world (and square footage to go along with it), I’d jump at the chance to have a craft room. I feel like every craft project I want to take on, I simply just don’t have the room to sprawl out and get it completed. The most important thing in crafting is having a flat surface to lay everything out on. Do I have that? Hardly. I’ve got a dining room table, in a teeny dining room. By the time I get all of the necessary supplies, I’ve taken up half the table space! Can you sense my frustration just typing this? I can’t help but just stare at pictures of Martha Stewart’s craft collection at Home Decorators and wish for the day where I can have this perfectly organized creative space. But, remember how I said I wished I had all of the money in the world? That’s because that is what it would take to afford all of the Martha goodness! It’s crazy expensive. I keep giving Andrew the tried and true “wink wink, nudge nudge” for him to start learning to build furniture. However, he has yet to take a bite at the bait just yet. Personally, I believe tackling the office would be the perfect first project. Mostly because I would benefit greatly from the transition. (Haha. That’s good, right?) In order to make my heart skip a HUGE beat, the second bedroom would have to be converted into the make-up application, homework, craft, sewing, bill paying and reading room. Tall order, right?

I’m completely in love with the second option, because there is nothing I love more than the his and hers’ work space. Andrew and I have that now with an L shaped desk in each corner. But, realistically, his desk has just become a grave for all of the projects that go to die. The idea of husband and wife hanging out in the office together is nice in theory, but not happening in this household. As I type up this entry, Andrew is not hanging out in his office nook, but sitting outside on the couch watching hockey. Case and point. When coming up with an alternative plan in our office, I would feel bad “bogarting” the work space, even if it doesn’t get used as office, I’d love for him to have the option. But, I dare say… option 1 and 3 make my heart skip a beat too! Which one strikes your fancy?
Love, J and A
